Volunteer

Earth Matter volunteers are people who are passionate about composting and sustainable practices and are willing to get their hands a little (or maybe even a lot) dirty. Read below about a variety of types volunteer opportunities, and see which one is right for you.

To become a part of Earth Matter's volunteer force, fill out our membership registration form and check the box "Would like to be a volunteer," then you will receive email when we need volunteers at events and for specific tasks. Become an Individual Member

We currently have over 200 members. Earth Matter NY is a member-based non-profit. That means that our members are involved in the decision making of our organization. Members are people who are passionate about composting and sustainable practices and would like to participate in, promote, and learn more about resource recovery and waste reduction practices.

Become an Intern

Earth Matter works with a variety of programs to provide meaningful internship work in the areas of composting and other sustainable practices. Our interns take on a deeper commitment than volunteers in return for benefits arranged on an individual basis. Become a Member Organization

Earth Matter Member Organizations are like-minded organizations who are interested in collaborating—that could be anything from partnering on projects and/or funding to sharing sharing Earth Matter news with their own members. Now Forming! We are searching for people who are passionate about composting and sustainable practices and would like to join with Earth Matter by lending their expertise, skills, facilities and/or and advice to us. Advisory Board Members are our active guides to the direction in which our organization will grow.

Vision and expertise can be in just about any area related to sustainability and organizational growth as related to our mission. Some examples of advisory member focus are: composting, environmental education, biology, horticulture, urban agriculture, technical support for physical operations, volunteer coordination, public relations, event planning and fundraising, accounting, rainwater harvesting, and many more.
